Hedgehogs Class News

Welcome to Hedgehogs class. We are aged between 7 and 9 years old and the youngest Key Stage 2 class. We have a fun and varied curriculum and work really hard developing our basic skills for learning.

Spring Term 2017

     Famous People

We have been enjoying our creative curriculum topic about Famous People. We have been finding out about Neil Armstrong, Ernest Shackleton, Tenzing Norgay, the Queen and Florence Nightingale. We have enjoyed listening to accounts of their lives. Our art work was also inspired by these people.

Internet Safety Day

During the day we followed the story of Smartie the penguin and what to do if you want to watch something online. We made up a song with musical instruments and played it in assembly. We also explored using the beebots.

     Road Safety

In our PHSE lessons we have been learning about how to cross the road. We practised in the classroom and playground before crossing the road outside school.

      Science

We have been looking at rocks and crystals and finding out about different types and where they come from. We looked at floating and sinking and how they change when they are wet.

      World Book Day

The class had lots of fun dressing up as our favourite characters. Steve came in and read us some Revolting Rhymes. We enjoyed buying cakes and books. We went to the library and did a treasure hunt and shared our favourite stories with our families. In the afternoon we enjoyed listening to Aliens in Underpants and parading our costumes in assembly.

      Church Visit

We have been finding out about special places in RE and different features of a church. We enjoyed our walk to the church on a sunny afternoon and searching for features inside the church completing a church I-spy. We especially liked the organ and the church windows.

What We Think About Our Learning

We have had a great time this term!

How You Can Help Us With Our Learning

Easter is a great opportunity to find out more about nature.  We are planning for our school allotment to be up-and-running next term and we hope to be involved in planting our own bed.
